The drugstore chain "Ihr Platz" is among the top companies in Germany's drugstore sector. In its approximately 850 shops, one to two CASIO handheld computers with Bluetooth® connections are used on the individual store computers.
The voice of experience
"In every store, one to two CASIO handheld computers are in use. With this new device, we have noticeably increased the transparency of all processes and orders", says Volker Witteriede, Project Manager at "Ihr Platz". "Reports and queries must be available at the exact moment they are actually needed. The data collection is extremely quick, and the time needed for a normal order has been reduced by about half. Presently, around 7,000 to 8,000 transactions are processed per week via the DT-X10."

Use
The drugstore operator "Ihr Platz" uses the powerful DT-X10 with Bluetooth® to optimise its information logistics in the internal ordering system. The up-to-date handheld device interacts with two different cash point systems used in the shops. If required, the devices, which are equipped with a CMOS camera for one- to two-dimensional codes, can also be easily furnished with an RFID reader, a WLAN module or a GSM/GPRS radio module for use outside the company network. Thanks to the up-to-date handheld device, the shops can access inventory changes in real time. This makes it possible to react quickly and flexibly to information about specific items or out of stock situations, thereby considerably reducing bottlenecks. The 2D imager of the DT-X10 has also highly improved the legibility of even poorly printed labels.
