The customer

The Hermes Logistik Gruppe is Germany's largest logistics service provider, independent of the post, for deliveries to private individuals. At Hermes Versand, the electronic collection, storage, transfer and subsequent archiving of all delivery and collection data has replaced conventional route reports.

Use

At the end of 2001, as part of a pilot project, around 6,000 CASIO handy terminals replaced the 20-page routing reports. Thanks to this positive experience, Hermes Versand now also uses an additional 6,000 CASIO terminals of the type DT-810 in the field of messenger services.

These CASIO terminals, 12,000 altogether, with integrated barcode scanners and electronic signature recording, are used by the logistics service provider for the quick and reliable collection of individual delivery orders, as well as the paperless documentation of shipping data. For CASIO Europe GmbH and the systems house PDS GmbH, from Cologne, this commission represents another positive reference in the field of courier, express and package shipping service providers. PDS has also set up a service centre especially for repairs to MDE devices, and this is also used by other large customers, such as Deutsche Post, with its approximately 50,000 CASIO terminals.

The product DT-X11 (follow-up model from DT-X10)

The DT-X10 has now been replaced by the follow-up model DT-X11. The CASIO DT-X11 is an especially powerful handheld terminal that offers everything necessary for mobile data collection thanks to its versatile features. With its special X-Scale processor, it can be used at temperatures as low as -20 degrees Celsius. In addition to a 192 MB memory and the Windows® CE operating system 5.0, it is also impressive due to its large-area transflective TFT touch display: It provides optimum presentation features in sunlight as well as in artificial light, thereby perfectly covering the working spectrum of the courier, express and package shipment sector. With the integrated Bluetooth® interface and the PC card slot, extensive Plug-and-Play solutions are available. And with the integrated laser or C-MOS scanner, 1D and 2D barcodes, signatures, complete labels, and images can be recorded simply and quickly.
