The customer
A.T.U is the largest independent automotive workshop in Germany and is also active in Austria, Holland, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Italy. Around 14,000 employees in over 640 branches generate a turnover of approx. €1.3 mill. with a unique combination of master workshop and specialist market for drivers. A.T.U offers drivers of all car brands high quality service at low prices and offers spare and replacement parts of the same quality as brand workshops.
The supply to all workshops and specialist markets is managed by around 400 logistics employees, who control two automated central stores in Weiden and Werl with a storage capacity of over 1.5 million cubic meters. The range includes around 137,000 products. We have approx. 60,000 products in store at all times, 77,000 can be delivered at short notice and around 15,000 are in stock in every branch.
Over 200 million parts are transported each year, including storage and removal of up to 700,000 car tyres per month.
Identass has been supplying A.T.U. since 2006 and is responsible for software development and hardware installation for the mobile branch terminals. As a CASIO partner, Identass is always up-to-date with the latest technology and can supply his customers with tailor-made software and outstanding hardware.
The voice of experience
"The DT-X5 is the ideal terminal for our customers. In addition to the outstanding price-performance ratio, the CASIO terminal is also extremely robust and can cope with rough handling in the branches.", says Chris Schmidt, manager at Identass.
"The scanner is completely reliable and resilient. It lessens our workload considerably in our branches. We have made the right choice", states Ute Müller, manager of Revision & Organisation at A.T.U.

Use
770 DT-X5 are currently in use at the A.T.U branches to make the goods flow between the branches and the two central stores more transparent. The devices can also be used to monitor deliveries, stocktaking in the branches and standard queries. It is also possible to register return deliveries. With the special Identass software MultilinkOrder, key product data can be provided on the move. The software is designed for use in multiple languages and can be set to the native language of the user.
Each individual DT-X5 terminal comes with a Bluetooth chip set and is connected to Igel thin clients in a Citrix environment. The version management takes place automatically and update management is implemented centrally. Contact-free data transmission is also possible with the DT-X5 via Bluetooth. Communication between all devices and the central servers in Weiden was established using the existing infrastructure in place at A.T.U with no additional measures required. The system is designed for modular expansion, opening up further application fields.
