The customer
"The London Eye", from British Airways, is a technological masterpiece. The 135-meter high tourist attraction stands in the centre of London and offers a one-of-a-kind view over the British metropolis from 32 glass gondolas. The Tussauds Group, which operates numerous additional attractions in London, aims to improve customer service in the waiting area using the mobile data terminals.
The voice of experience
"The great thing about the new 'queuing sales solution' is that we not only keep a closer eye on sales, but also find the system extremely simple and easy to operate", comments Chris Mines, Retail Manager for The London Eye. "We've already heard very positive comments from our customers. For example, customers like the fact that credit card transactions are performed with the help of this mobile POS solution right in front of their eyes, and that the mobile printer immediately supplies the receipt."

Use
The British CASIO partner Itim Technology Solutions, a specialist for DP applications in the retail trade and the leisure industry, has developed a special POS solution consisting in a sturdy Pocket PC IT-700 with integrated barcode scanner and a portable receipt printer with built-in credit card reader. Using the IT-700, at the base of the Ferris wheel and in the neighbouring Country Hall Building, visitors have the option of buying souvenirs, as well as snacks and refreshments, without having to leave their places in the queues, which are usually quite long.
