A waste management company's duties are not confined to disposing of waste and cleaning the streets. In fact, in recent years, these companies have developed into modern service providers, whose range of services are customised to the particular requirements. Private company "Stadtreiniger Kassel", which evolved from the sanitation department in the city of Kassel in 1993, has successfully established itself in the region of Northern Hesse. More than 350 employees ensure that around 195,000 inhabitants and 6500 businesses and industrial companies in Kassel are all looked after, by offering a range of tasks, including waste disposal, winter services and the development of waste solutions.

"My colleagues and I enjoy working with the high-tech IT-3000 mobile cash register from CASIO", explains Horst Reuter from the recycling centre. "All the functions we need can be accessed using two buttons. Billing customers is quicker and easier - everyone is happy."

Use
Stadtreiniger Kassel uses CASIO IT-3000 hand-held terminals with integrated receipt printers as a mobile cash register system to collect payments at the control points in their recycling centres and when out collecting bulk waste. When selecting the mobile data terminal, particular emphasis was placed upon simple operation and ergonomic handling and robust design. At the beginning of their shift at the recycling centres, employees log on to the system and can set to work immediately. When waste disposal or recycling materials are delivered, the employee can directly enter the amount and type of material while at the delivery vehicle using the IT-3000's keyboard. This innovative solution enables quick and simplified processing of payment transactions, including registration and the creation of receipts. At the end of the shift, the saved data relating to the daily takings and amounts is transferred from the CASIO hand-held terminal to a PC, where it is clearly displayed, evaluated and then sent to the management for further processing. Along with relieving staff of bothersome paperwork and routine processes, which were prone to errors, the quality of service for the citizens of Kassel has also been improved further.
