The customer
The restaurant chain Happy Bar & Grill has been active in the restaurant sector for over 20 years and operates 30 branches in Bulgaria and Spain. The friendly service and first-class food have made Happy one of the most prominent names in the full-service restaurant sector in Bulgaria. Happy branches are easy to find, located mostly in city centres and busy areas. The target groups are guests between 25 and 50 years of age. In addition to traditional American dishes such as hamburgers, the restaurant also serves local cuisine. Happy currently employs over 2000 employees.
CASIO partner BIT LTD. has been working as software and hardware partner for Happy since 2007, managing the mobile order terminals used in the branches.
The voice of experience
"With the CASIO IT-10 we can take customer orders at the tables and send them directly to the kitchen. This enables us to improve our customer service and increase customer satisfaction. The IT-10 is also extremely elegant and presentable" says Kaloyan Blagoev, Happy Chain manager.

Use
The roll-out of the devices was successfully completed in April 2008 and the order terminal has been in use ever since with no problems. Over 170 PDAs are currently used by the company to take orders directly at the tables. The orders are taken at the tables by Happy employees and sent to the central computer of the respective restaurant via WLAN on confirmation. From here, the order is sent to the kitchen display system (KDS) and can be processed without delay. The cash-point system is also connected directly to the server, meaning that the order only has to be entered once.
The long battery life of the IT-10 means it can be used without changing or recharging the battery during a shift. The robust design of the terminal also protects from falls or spillage of liquid or food.
The software R-Keeper is particularly user friendly. With just a few touches on the touch display, the user can switch between meals and drinks or edit orders already entered. It goes without saying that the user can switch to his or her own native language.
