Use
An important element of integrated information logistics is mobile data collection. This is now performed using handheld terminals - modified specifically for Dachser - from the DT-X10 series manufactured by CASIO.
The total order contains around 4,000 devices, processed by the CASIO partner PDS GmbH, which specialises in solutions for mobile data collection. Dachser uses the DT-X10 as part of the NV online project. With NV online, the electronic serial numbers (ESN) of packages are scanned at collection and delivery. The customer also provides a digital signature. Data is transferred from the device to the Dachser IT systems via GPRS on an ongoing basis. Within seconds, the data is available as status information to all those involved in goods flow, making it possible to perform tracking and tracing. This gives the customer an even quicker overview of his shipments.
