The Czech Republic national rail service is service company number one in the Czech Republic for passenger transportation. The country's central position in the heart of Europe has led to the Czech Republic becoming a major transit country. A number of Inter/Euro-city stretches (e.g. Hamburg-Berlin-Dresden-Prague) run through the country.

The application

For day-to-day work in trains, such as ticket sales, reservations and transport information, the Czech Republic national rail service uses an integrated computer system monitored and managed via the central control system "PARIS".
This central system is connected to individual "POP"("portable cash register") terminals.
The POP terminals come installed with all applications required by a train attendant when issuing a pre-defined type of ticket quickly and easily for destinations throughout Europe. The POP terminal can also issue different ticket types, including trial tickets, surcharge tickets and fine tickets.
The CASIO IT-3000 terminal is the heart of the POP terminals, supported by a chipcard reader. An additional hardware version with built-in barcode scanner is also available.
